A sequel to the groundbreaking 1993 film ‘The Joy Luck Club’ has officially been announced.
Novelist Amy Tan and Oscar-winning “Rain Man” screenwriter Ron Bass have both signed onto the sequel, titled ‘Joy Luck Club 2’, with Ashok and Priya Amritraj producing. The cast of the original film is in talks to reprise their roles in the sequel, as mothers and grandmothers of their families.
“Now more than ever it is important to share authentic stories about the Asian American experience, and we believe this film will speak to wide audiences with its narrative rooted in humanity and connection,” said Ashok Amritraj.
