A father in China went viral after breaking down in tears upon learning his son scored 6 out of 100 on a math exam.

It was revealed that the man had been staying up late at night to tutor his son. In the now-viral video, he wipes his own tears while his wife laughs at the heartbreaking yet oddly funny scene.

What made the story even more surprising was the boy’s past performance. Before his father took over tutoring, his scores typically ranged from 40–50 points up to 80–90 points.

“I don’t care anymore, my efforts are wasted. Let him struggle by himself,” the father reportedly said.
