The Live-Action Stage Adaptation of ‘Spirited Away’ is Set For Its First Overseas Performance Next Year

The live-action stage adaptation of Hayao Miyazaki’s beloved classic ‘Spirited Away’ is set for its first overseas performance next year, having previously only had performances in Japan.

It’s been announced that performances will begin April 30th, 2024 at the London Coliseum and continue through July 20th. While it hasn’t been confirmed if the entire Japanese cast will be featured in the UK version, stars Kanna Hashimoto and Mone Kamishiraishi who alternate in the lead role have been confirmed for the production.

Hawaii Becomes the First State to Adopt a Filipino History Course in Its Statewide Public Schools

Hawaii has become the first state to adopt a Filipino history course in its statewide public schools.

The history course is titled CHR 2300 Filipino History Culture and was created by a group called the Filipino Curriculum Project which consists of Filipino students who wanted their stories to be represented in the classroom.

“It honestly feels very unreal to me,” said Marissa Halagao, the founder of the group. “I’m so excited and so grateful that this course is finally getting approved. I started this project as a sophomore in high school and now I’m a graduated senior and it’s just so amazing to see how far we’ve come.”

‘Crazy Rich Asians’ writer and ‘Joy Ride’ director Adele Lim is among this year’s inductees to the Asian Hall of Fame.

Other inductees this year included Annie Young-Scrivner, Ben Fong-Torres, Charlie & Ling Zhang, Doug Baldwin Jr, Dr. Lisa T. Su, Dr. Peter Lee, Far East Movement, Jennifer Lee, Kiet Nguyen, Lalisa Manoban, Pin Ni, Marilyn Strickland, Sam Cho, Santos Manuel accepted by great great-granddaughter Lynn Valbuena and Chairwoman of San Manuel, Dr. Shang-Li & Betty Huang, Rocky Aoki accepted by children Kyle, Kevin, and Echo Aoki.

Michelle Yeoh Becomes One of Eight New Members Elected to the International Olympic Committee

Michelle Yeoh became one of eight new members elected to the International Olympic Committee.

Yeoh, who is a former Malaysian junior squash champion, said on the honor, “I remember when someone asked me, how did you become an actress? I always said, ‘I never dreamt of being an actress, but as a child I always dreamt of being an Olympian’.”

IOC president Thomas Bach said the new members were selected due to their “experience and diverse expertise in different walks of life”.
