Devoted Husband Goes Viral Protecting His Blind Wife For Over a Decade

Published

A husband in China has gone viral after taking care of his blind wife for more than a decade after she lost her sight due to illness.

Li Juxin and his wife, Zhang Xiying, once lived a quiet and ordinary life. But when she unexpectedly went blind, his devotion to his partner earned him global praise as China’s ‘most devoted husband.’

The couple met in 2006 after Li completed his military service and returned to his hometown of Jimo, Shandong. There, he opened an auto repair shop and met the love of his life, Zhang.

The two married in 2008 and were later blessed with a daughter. But in 2013, a sudden eye condition gradually robbed Zhang of her sight.

The couple invested nearly $70,000 in treatment, using their entire savings and borrowed money in hopes of preventing her blindness.

But just a year after the diagnosis, in June 2014, Zhang permanently lost her sight. The ordeal left her struggling to cope, and described the experience as turning life “from heaven to hell.”

Despite the hardship, he refused to lose hope. He reassured his wife, saying, “In the coming decades of our lives, I will continue to walk alongside you.”

Determined to help her adjust, Li never rearranged items in their home or his auto repair shop, allowing Zhang to navigate through memory.

Family and friends also stood by her side, offering encouragement during her darkest moments. Over time, Zhang regained her strength, relearning how to cook and even preparing dumplings for family gatherings.

“The food tastes just as delicious as ever,” Li Juxin said with a smile.

Now, Li devotes part of his time to public service, joining a local rescue team to extend his compassion to others in need.

The couple’s journey has touched the hearts of many, with one observer wrote, “Salute to this man, his love shines brighter than any hardship.”

Hwang Dong-hyuk, the mastermind behind the global hit ‘Squid Game,’ is returning with a new original series titled ‘The Dealer.’

This marks Hwang’s first project after the cultural phenomenon that made him a household name worldwide.

‘The Dealer’ is a high-stakes casino crime drama centered on Geonhwa, a skilled dealer whose wedding plans fall apart after a housing scam upends her life.

Portrayed by Jung So-min, Geonhwa must confront a dangerous underworld while using hidden abilities that give her an edge at the tables.

Ryoo Seung-bum joins as Hwang Chisu, a desperate gambler living hand to mouth who becomes entangled in Geonhwa’s perilous scheme.

Lee Soo-hyuk plays Jo Jun, a formidable casino player whose unreadable poker face makes him an unpredictable threat.

Ryu Kyung-soo rounds out the top-billed cast as Choi Wooseung, Geonhwa’s fiancé.

His gentle demeanor at home contrasts with a steely edge as a detective, adding layers to the story as Geonhwa navigates the perils of gambling and crime.

Produced by Hwang Dong-hyuk and Firstman Studio, the company behind ‘Squid Game’, the series is written by Ohnooy and Lee Tae-young.

The show is directed by acclaimed cinematographer Choi Young-hwan, known for his work on ‘Smugglers’, ‘Veteran’, and ‘The Thieves’.

Expectations are sky-high given Hwang’s track record. ‘Squid Game’ remains Netflix’s biggest series of all time, with its seasons dominating global charts.
