Studio Ghibli released new images from Hayao Miyazaki’s final film ‘The Boy and the Heron’.

The film is set to make its US premiere at this year’s New York Film Festival, taking place from October 6th to 8th, with a North American theater release date coming later this year.

It had already become the largest debut in Studio Ghibli’s history with a $13.2M opening weekend in Japan despite no promotion or marketing.

The images originated from a film program that was released by the studio in theaters and marks the first time that images from the film were publicly released given the lack of advertising leading up to its release.

The film is scheduled to be released in North American theaters later this year after it opens this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. Created by celebrated author Jenny Han, ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ has garnered a dedicated following since its inception. The series is a faithful adaptation of Han’s best-selling novels that bear the same name.

In the announcement the streamer wrote, “Season 3 was greenlit ahead of the strikes and production will not begin until after negotiations are resolved.” The hit series was created by author Jenny Han and is based on her bestselling novels of the same name.
