Restaurant Couple Goes Viral Refusing to Increase Prices So All Can Enjoy a Hot Meal

A Singaporean elderly couple has gone viral for serving $2.50 noodles and refusing to raise price to help low-income residents.

Named ‘No. 10 Noodle House,’ Juliana Low and Mr Kwa Hian Tiong offer meals at prices unchanged for nearly 20 years, ensuring every bowl stays affordable.

Despite rising inflation, the Goods and Services Tax hikes, and the Covid-19 pandemic, the couple remains steadfast in their mission.

They currently serve around 30 bowls of these affordable noodles daily, specifically targeting the elderly and financially struggling neighbors.

The couple’s generosity has deeply touched their loyal patrons, with some customers even insisting on paying S$3 for the S$2.50 portion.

However, the hawkers maintain that they do not focus on daily earnings. As long as they make enough to cover their basic living expenses, they are satisfied.

Now in their 70s, the couple plans to work a few more years before retiring, supported by monthly allowances from their four children.

Despite their hesitation, their 23-year-old granddaughter hopes to inherit the business to continue their legacy.

You can still get a warm bowl of their noodles in Block 80 Circuit Road Market and Food Centre, Singapore.
