Izu Shaboten Zoo in Japan has delighted visitors with its capybara hot spring tradition, which began in 1982 when keepers noticed the animals loved warm water.
To help them stay cozy during winter, the zoo created a dedicated hot spring bath, and it quickly became a seasonal attraction.
Every year from November to April, capybaras can be seen soaking in steaming pools, often with floating yuzu fruits, a custom believed to promote good health.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary, the zoo is hosting special citrus baths, exhibits, and live streams for fans worldwide.
