Shohei Ohtani’s historic 50th home run baseball recently made headlines, selling for an impressive $4,392,000 at a Goldin auction and becoming the most expensive baseball ever sold.

This monumental sale surpasses the previous record held by Mark McGwire’s 70th home run ball, which sold for $3.005 million, and highlights Ohtani’s unique achievement as the first player to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in a single MLB season.

The ball was caught by fan Christian Zacek at LoanDepot Park after Ohtani’s milestone game against the Miami Marlins on September 19th.
