Academy Award-nominated writer and producer Keith Dorrington, known for his work on films like ‘The Fighter’ starring Mark Wahlberg, has teamed up with multicultural ad agency IW Group to develop and produce the China-set drama ‘Hou Yi.’

The project is currently in the early stage of development. Dorrington shared, “This inspirational story means the world to me because it is inspired by the adoption events surrounding my own daughter. I’m thrilled to take this important step in making that happen,” highlighting his excitement to collaborate with IW Group for an authentic portrayal of this powerful narrative that crosses cultural barriers.

Set in 1990s China, the original screenplay tells the story of an American businessman who unexpectedly adopts a three-year-old orphan girl named Hou Yi, forming a life-changing bond. This project marks IW Group’s first venture into film production as they aim to bring more Asian culture stories to the silver screen for global audiences. Dorrington, renowned for his two-time best director Oscar-nominated work, serves as executive producer.

Both Dorrington and IW Group are enthusiastic about bringing this heartfelt story to life through innovative storytelling, seeing it as a personal mission. They aim to create a film that resonates with audiences worldwide while exploring untapped opportunities in today’s evolving media landscape and overcoming language barriers through the power of authentic storytelling.
