The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City is returning 16 stolen sculptures to Cambodia and Thailand.

The pieces are part of its Khmer collection and were acquired by Douglas Latchford, who was indicted for illegally trafficking goods.

The sculptures are from the 9th and 14th centuries in the Angkorian period and draw on Hindu and Buddhist cultures.
