Tokyo’s governor, Yuriko Koike, announced that the city will make high school tuition free of charge for all students, regardless of family income.

Under the current system, even public high schools charge tuition in Japan, but that’s going to be ending soon in the nation’s largest city.

With respect to the new policy, Koike announced,“We will be urgently making the utmost effort to provide support to child-raising households.”
